Social media training: Not Me

Secure Social Media Use training in a 2:29 animated story. It covers Work vs personal accounts, oversharing, fake profiles and recruiters. In English and Arabic, with captions you can switch on or off, and a scenario quiz at the end.

What your team will learn

  • Identify the clues that a profile copies a real person: one character changed in the name, a brand-new account, connections all from one company, and a story like 'my old account is locked'.

  • Recognise a fake recruiter: an offer that is too good, and questions about your company's systems, clients or files instead of about you.

  • Check the background before posting (badges, screens, boards, client names, launch dates), and state that only your company's official account speaks for the company.

  • When a profile asks for anything from work, check with the person directly, then report it to the security team and on the site.

The story

“Not Me” is the story at the heart of this course. Grace (social media manager) is the lead character; the learner watches the situation unfold, spots the warning signs, and sees the right thing to do. Set in Nakhlora Group, a fictional Gulf company.

Sample quiz question

A profile with Grace's name and photo messages Arjun: her old account is locked, so could he send the Nakhlora Go test login? What should Arjun do?

  • Send it, since the profile shows her photo and her job title.
  • Reply and ask something only the real Grace would know.
  • Check with Grace herself, directly, and send nothing.
  • Send it, then change the test password after she films.

Correct answer: Check with Grace herself, directly, and send nothing.

Why: A profile that asks for work is checked with the person directly, outside that profile, as Arjun did across the table. A question sent to the profile itself is answered by whoever runs it.

Not Me [0:02] Arjun: Since when do you spell your name with a zero? [0:06] Arjun: 'You' just messaged me. Your old account's locked, and you need the Nakhlora Go test login. So I'm asking you. [0:14] Grace: My account isn't locked. And that isn't me. [0:19] Grace: Wait. That's our photo, from an hour ago. The board, the launch date, your badge. [0:28] Narrator: Grace posted it at 15:20 on her public work profile, keen to share the news first. Nobody checked the background. [0:36] Grace: That's mine. I handed them that. [0:40] Grace: Launch news goes on the Nakhlora account, on launch day. Only that account speaks for Nakhlora; my profiles speak for me. [0:50] Narrator: One is Grace. One is the copy. Find two differences. [0:59] Grace: A zero for the O. And a nine-day-old account whose thirty-eight connections all work at Nakhlora. [1:07] Narrator: Deleting stops new copies. But the copy keeps what it took, and any of those colleagues could get its next message. [1:15] Grace: And 'my old account's locked' is the story that makes you skip the check. You checked anyway. [1:22] Arjun: Last week a recruiter offered me double my salary. Then she asked which systems Nakhlora uses. [1:29] Grace: Same game: a huge offer, then questions about work. Real recruiters ask about you, not our systems, clients or files. [1:40] Narrator: A profile asks you for work? Don't answer it. Check with the person directly, then report it to your security team. [1:49] Grace: I'm reporting the copy to our security team, and on the site. Report that recruiter too. [1:57] Narrator: Before you post, check the background: badges, screens, boards, client names, launch dates. If it shows work details, don't post it. [2:09] Arjun: So which Grace do I trust? [2:11] Grace: The one beside you. [2:15] Narrator: One habit: before you post, check the background. A profile asks you for work? Check with the person, then report it.
