Physical security training: Sign in Person

Physical Security training in a 2:34 animated story. It covers Tailgating, visitors, fake couriers. In English and Arabic, with captions you can switch on or off, and a scenario quiz at the end.

What your team will learn

  • Identify three clues of a fake delivery: a box with no carrier label or tracking number, a courier who walks past the front desk, and 'urgent, sign in person' for a named senior colleague.

  • Keep a staff gate closed behind you: hold it for no one, and kindly ask the person to badge in or send them to the front desk.

  • State the desk rules: deliveries stay at the front desk and the person comes down; visitors sign in, wear a badge and are escorted; anything odd is reported to your security team.

The story

“Sign in Person” is the story at the heart of this course. Mona (office manager) is the lead character; the learner watches the situation unfold, spots the warning signs, and sees the right thing to do. Set in Nakhlora Group, a fictional Gulf company.

Sample quiz question

A courier calls out, 'It's a sign-in-person one, I'll take it straight up!' and walks past the front desk. What should Mona do?

  • Let him go up, since the label says it must be signed in person.
  • Ask him to leave it at the desk, and call the person down.
  • Phone Level 27 so someone can meet him when he gets there.
  • Check his jacket shows a courier's name, then let him go.

Correct answer: Ask him to leave it at the desk, and call the person down.

Why: Deliveries stay at the front desk, and the person comes down to collect. 'Sign in person' doesn't change that.

Sign in Person [0:01] Courier: Right. Mr Al Harthy, Level 27. Sign in person. [0:10] Courier: Morning! It's a sign-in-person one. I'll take it straight up! [0:15] Faisal: Yes, I'm in the building. Two minutes, I'm on my way up. [0:19] Courier: Thanks, sir! Heavy one, this. [0:27] Visitor: Idris Okoye, here to see Mr Al Harthy. Do I sign here? [0:32] Mona: Good morning! Deliveries stay here at the desk, please. Sir? [0:38] Narrator: Can you spot it? Three clues this courier isn't what he says. [0:50] Mona: Sami, it's Mona. A courier's heading for gate 2. No carrier label on that box, and he walked straight past me. [0:59] Mona: It's 'sign in person' for Faisal, and he's just followed Faisal through. Meet him at the lifts? [1:07] Sami: Morning! Deliveries wait at the front desk, and the person comes down to sign. I'll walk you back. [1:14] Courier: No problem. I'll leave it here and come back for the signature. [1:20] Narrator: 'Urgent', 'in person', a big name: clues, not passes. Anything odd? Report it to your security team. [1:30] Sami: Good call, Mona. Past the gates, nobody checks again. The box stays here, unopened, until we've checked it. [1:38] Narrator: Deliveries stay at the front desk, and the person they're for comes down. Visitors sign in, wear a badge and are escorted. [1:48] Faisal: Mona, that was me at the gate. I'm sorry. I held it because it felt rude not to. [1:55] Mona: Asking kindly is good service, not rude. Next time, just let it close. [2:03] Narrator: Someone behind you at the gate? Don't hold it. Kindly ask them to badge in, or send them to the front desk. [2:12] Faisal: Two parcels, signed for at the desk. Mr Okoye, welcome. I'll take you up myself. [2:20] Narrator: One habit: don't hold the door. Everyone uses their own badge. No badge? The front desk. Anything odd? Contact your security team.
