Mobile security training: What the Finder Saw

Mobile Device Security training in a 2:27 animated story. It covers Screen lock, updates, app stores, a lost phone; QR-code phishing. In English and Arabic, with captions you can switch on or off, and a scenario quiz at the end.

What your team will learn

  • Report a lost work phone at once to IT Support or your security team, and then change your password.

  • Check the address behind a QR code before opening it, and never sign in from a code on a sticker or poster.

  • Lock your phone with a PIN of six digits or more, hide message previews on the lock screen, and get apps only from the official store or the company app portal.

The story

“What the Finder Saw” is the story at the heart of this course. Emma (account manager) is the lead character; the learner watches the situation unfold, spots the warning signs, and sees the right thing to do. Set in Nakhlora Group, a fictional Gulf company.

Sample quiz question

At 21:03 Emma realises she left her work phone on the metro. What should she do first?

  • Wait until morning, in case someone hands it in.
  • Report it to IT Support straight away, tonight.
  • Ride back to the end of the line to look for it.
  • Call her own number and hope the finder answers.

Correct answer: Report it to IT Support straight away, tonight.

Why: The sooner IT knows, the sooner they can lock the phone or wipe it. Waiting or searching first leaves it open for longer.

What the Finder Saw [0:01] Narrator: A late metro. A stranger finds a phone on an empty seat. [0:06] Narrator: It's locked. No message text shows. Just one line: lost phone, please call. Why? Because of 21:03. [0:21] Emma: Omar, it's Emma. I left my work phone on the metro. My fault: I put it down on a seat. [0:29] Omar: Thanks for calling straight away. I've marked it lost: it's locked now, and shows a number to call. [0:36] Omar: Your mail was on that phone, so change your password now. If nobody hands it in, we can wipe it. [0:44] Narrator: Lost your phone? Tell IT Support or your security team at once: they can lock or wipe it. Then change your password. [0:55] Narrator: So how did she lose it? At 20:49, on the train home, a sticker caught her eye. [1:03] Narrator: Can you spot it? Look at the address, and at what it asks you for. [1:13] Emma: That's not the metro's address. And a ride survey wants my work sign-in? No. [1:19] Narrator: A QR code is a link. Check the address before you open it, and never sign in from a sticker or poster. [1:28] Narrator: That's how she lost it: she put the phone down to find her travel card, and her stop came. [1:40] Narrator: And why could the stranger see nothing? Her phone was set up long before that night. [1:49] Emma: From a link? No. I'll get the metro's app from the store. [1:54] Narrator: Get apps only from the official store, or your company's app portal. Never from a link. [2:00] Narrator: Lock your phone with a PIN of six digits or more, and hide message previews. Keep updates on automatic, too. [2:09] Narrator: That's why, at 21:20, the stranger saw only a lock and a number to call. [2:16] Narrator: One habit: lock your phone with a PIN, and report it the minute you miss it.
